Optimize Your Existing Links for Maximum SEO Benefit

As an SEO or Internet marketing, you are constantly testing strategies to create new links to their sites to improve traffic and rankings in search engines. But what about your relationship and linkages partners? Åre to maximize their potential and squeezing every bit of profit from them? New links are great, of course, but the optimization of their linkages can have a significant impact on the SEO and with minimal effort. Improving an existing link is usually much easier to get a new one.

In this article, I will describe 5 strategies you can use today to optimize existing links to your site and increase the value of SEO. This will help you get more traffic and direct influence on the rankings in search engines targeted keywords.

  • Ask for more links

If someone links to your site, that usually means finding value in what you offer or have any relationship with you. Because of this, your link partners are more likely to change their links to you and add more in the future. Just not too greedy with this strategy and push your luck. For example, if someone links to your homepage, you can send a message to him a page and ask for a deep link as well. Also, if someone links to an article and write a similar one on the same subject a few months later, you may know and ask for another bond.

Again, do not go overboard with this tactic. You want to get as many links as possible from their partners without seeming too pushy and ruining the relationship. Definitely helps if you can return the favor somehow.

  • Optimizing the anchor text

Often, webmasters will link to your site with less than optimal anchor text. Anchor text is very important for the links, as it not only says that users of the resulting page is about, but is also used by search engines to determine relevancy of a page for a keyword. For example, relations with the winner of the Web with the anchor text “Internet Marketing” will help the site to rank for that keyword. Links like “click here”, “learn more” and “www.site.com” are bad because they do not incorporate a high-potential keywords.

Contact the webmasters who link to you and ask them to change the anchor text for a link targeting SEO keywords - especially the links on high authority sites. Be sure to keep the relevant anchor text and mix until (ideally a variation for each link). Also, leave some unoptimized anchor text for a natural look to search engines. Google will penalize your site if your link profile that appears obviously been handled a keyword. Learning to do a natural look and count every link to your SEO ranking.

  • Correct Errors

Sometimes you will find that webmasters link to pages that no longer exist on your site or one of its completely wrong URL. Track your 404 (file not found) and records of its partners seek to link to correct the error, if possible, links. If you do not answer, a solution is the transfer of value for itself by implementing a 301 redirect the old page or the URL to the wrong version.

  • Change locations link

Find out what sites link to your website pages that are blocked from being indexed by search engines (in robots.txt or robots meta tags). Ask the webmasters to link to another page on your site more valuable. You can also go one step further with this strategy by requesting links on specific pages of highly relevant links with a lot of equity (using PageRank as a general guide).

  • Turn your site on behalf of the valuable links references

Webmasters often mention your name, company name, or URL, but not the actual use of a link to your site. Search websites that you mention it. If they have not linked to your site, kindly let them know and ask them to do so. Use Google Alerts to find these opportunities, as they pop up.

Are you in the habit of optimizing their existing links? If not, take a look at the profile link on your site to Google webmaster through their own or as tools for SEO Spyglass and Link Diagnosis. You’ll be surprised how much you can do to optimize use of the tips mentioned in this article.

For all those who have used these strategies before, how great an impact has made the optimization of existing links in the SEO rankings?

Decent tips. Asking for more links is a pretty good one, especially when they’ve already deep linked, and talked about, a specific article of yours. I’ve had great luck emailing people when I write similar articles and just letting them know about the article like you said.
